Meet the Visionaries Behind The Drama Dept.
The Drama Dept. is a nonprofit youth theater school dedicated to fostering creativity, confidence, and a love for the performing arts among young performers in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas. It emerged as a natural next step from the successful theater program at The Ballet Studio of Carmel and the opportunities provided by The Cat, a vibrant community theater. Over the years, Ballet Studio performers have taken the stage at The Cat, showcasing their talents and deepening the connection between the two organizations. This shared commitment to empowering young artists and enriching the arts community led to the creation of The Drama Dept.
As founding partners, Ashley Thibodeau and Audrey Larkin serve as Co-Artistic Directors, combining their expertise in dance, theater, and arts education to shape the program’s vision. Ashley brings her leadership and dedication to nurturing young talent from her work at The Ballet Studio of Carmel, while Audrey – managing director of The Cat – contributes her deep experience in theater production and nonprofit arts management. They are joined by Will Wood, owner of The Cat, whose passion for community theater and production excellence helps solidify The Drama Dept. as a vital resource for young performers.
Together, Ashley, Audrey, and Will have built a program that provides children and teens with opportunities to grow as performers and individuals. Through engaging workshops, productions, and community outreach, The Drama Dept. is committed to strengthening the cultural fabric of the region and inspiring the next generation of artists.
